If you have lost multiple teeth, our dentist may recommend a complete or partial denture to replace them and restore your smile.
What Are Dentures?
Dentures are a type of removable dental prosthetic. They are typically recommended for those who are missing some or all of their teeth, and work to restore your appearance as well as your oral function. There are several types of dentures available, and our dentist will discuss your oral health and all your options with you to determine which type of dentures is right for your needs.
Types of Dentures
The two most common types of dentures are partial and complete dentures:
- Partial dentures are provided when you are missing multiple teeth and still have some remaining natural ones. They include a thin framework, or clasps, that attach to your natural teeth to provide a secure fit.
- Complete dentures, also known as full dentures, are used to replace an entire arch of teeth. They can replace one or both arches of teeth depending on your needs. If you receive complete dentures, our dentist may recommend using a denture adhesive to increase the stability of your appliance.
While dentures are traditionally removable, they can also be anchored in place with dental implants to provide a more secure fit and a more stable foundation for your smile. Your dentures will be customized to fit your smile comfortably and provide an aesthetic final result.
Benefits of Dentures
Dentures benefit you by:
- Improving your ability to speak and eat
- Restoring and supporting your natural facial volume
- Giving you back a beautiful smile
